This Privacy Policy explains how SwiftSpeak ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use our iOS and macOS voice-to-text application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

By using SwiftSpeak, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

SwiftSpeak is designed to minimize data collection. We do NOT:

Collect or store your voice recordings
Access or store your transcribed text
Collect personal information or create user profiles
Use analytics, tracking, or telemetry
Store your API keys on our servers
Have access to your Power Mode documents or memory
Monitor your usage patterns

3. Information Processed Locally

The following information is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to us:

4. Privacy Mode (On-Device Processing)

SwiftSpeak offers a Privacy Mode that processes all data entirely on your device:

WhisperKit: On-device voice recognition using local AI models
Apple Intelligence: On-device text formatting (iOS 18.5+, Apple Silicon)
Apple Translation: On-device translation to 25+ languages

When Privacy Mode is enabled, no data leaves your device. All processing happens locally, and you can use SwiftSpeak completely offline.

5. Third-Party Services

When you use cloud AI providers (not in Privacy Mode), your data is sent to third-party services you select:

Speech-to-Text Providers

Important: SwiftSpeak acts as a conduit between your device and these services. We do not intercept, store, or have access to the data transmitted. You use your own API keys, and data processing is governed by your agreement with these third-party services.

6. Audio Data Handling

When you record audio using SwiftSpeak:

Audio is temporarily stored in the app container
Audio is transmitted directly to your selected speech-to-text provider (or processed locally in Privacy Mode)
Audio files are automatically deleted from your device immediately after transcription
We never receive, access, or store your audio recordings

7. Data Security

We implement the following security measures:

API keys stored in iOS/macOS Keychain (hardware-encrypted)
Optional Face ID / Touch ID protection for sensitive views
All API communications use HTTPS encryption
Configurable data retention (auto-delete after 7, 30, or 90 days)
Temporary audio files deleted immediately after processing
No data transmitted to our servers

8. iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, the following data may be synced across your devices:

App settings and preferences
Custom templates and Power Modes
Conversation contexts
Custom vocabulary

This data is encrypted by Apple during transit and at rest. We do not have access to your iCloud data. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

9. Children's Privacy

SwiftSpeak does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The app does not collect personal information from any users. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to a third-party service through this app, please contact that service provider directly.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over your data:

Enable Privacy Mode: Keep all processing on-device
Delete local data: Clear history, memory, and documents from Settings
Configure retention: Set automatic deletion after 7, 30, or 90 days
Choose providers: Select which AI services to use
Revoke API access: Delete your API keys at any time
Uninstall: Remove the app and all associated local files

11. Data Retention

Audio recordings: Deleted immediately after transcription
Transcription history: User-configurable (7, 30, 90 days, or never)
Local settings: Retained until you delete them or uninstall the app

12. International Users

SwiftSpeak can be used worldwide. Since we do not collect personal data, there are no cross-border data transfers by us. When you use third-party AI services, your data may be processed in countries where those services operate. Please review their respective privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
